 Description

If users are not in the same group and don't have Super Admin type they see "Inaccessible user" on Problems page (zabbix.php?action=problem.view) for "Ack: Yes" pop-up.
But similar pop-up for "Ack: Yes" on Dashboard page shows the user name acknowledged it.

hmm, what is the bug here?
It works at it should.
Please explain, otherwise issue to be closed.

The change recently improved also in ZBX-10958

For example if you have 2 teams working on the same project(and users from them are is separate groups in Zabbix) and you have it monitored in Zabbix nobody can tell for sure whom from the other team you should ask about Acknowledged issue.

And the most confusing about this is that Dashboard shows 'User' correctly while Problems page shows 'Inaccessible user'

History of the issue:
I'll operate with event details page (tr_events.php), as it was existing in all the versions.
ZBXNEXT-421 added to display user name (additionally to "send to") is several places, including event details page.
But the limitation to not show user name if users do not use shared group - was actual starting from 2.4.0
One point I have to note - "sent to" was still shown in 2.4.0, while in place of user name an empty space is shown. (a php error bottom on the page also displayed)
So, the permission restriction is not something new even for 3.0 (

The string "Inaccessible user" appeared in 3.0, probably as result of shared screen implementation.

Wort to note that before ZBX-10958 fix we could see "sent to" value in all the versions, but after the fix only "Inaccessible user" is displayed.

Now it may be discussed what worth to do

In one environment (where your users belong to the same organisation) it's not an issue to see user name of each other.
But imagine another environment - shared zabbix installation where user groups are independent and should NOT see each other in any possible way.
So it causes "two sides of a coin" issue ... not sure how it could be resolved.

@Denis, I've updated your issue description, now it's more clear I hope.
I can confirm that after ZBX-10958 fix, on pop-up on Dashboard page for "Ack: Yes" (acknowledged) the user name is not displayed anymore - "Inaccessible user" is displayed now.

Taking into account all that - you need to reevaluate your vision and what to do next ...

Now I think it may be closed as one of:

  • won't fix
  • duplicate of ZBX-10958
  • feature request, like "provide ability to see user names for users not in shared groups".

Ok, as a workaround I created new group and put all users in it.
That works for now, I guess.

Still it'll be really nice if there's some kind of switch which changes this behavior.
Something like specifying "Private\Shared" installation type.

hmm, I like that life hack

hi Denis, Oleksiy Zagorskyi,
what is the status of ZBX-11236 bug? I encounter the "Inaccessible user" issue on Problems page and on Dashboard page with 3.2.2 Version.
I understand the specifying "Private\Shared" type between the separate group. In fact of working , I can't put all users in same group with same level role. here are some scenarios for you that I hope the bug need to be fix.
1. user A (level: administor common, it be named list in admin A group) confirms and edits the new problem on dashboard for "Ack: Yes" ; the user B (level: administor common, it be named list in admin B group) login and check out the problem identified by who on dashboard page, it displays the "Inaccessible user".

2. user C (level: USER , it be named list in USER C group) confirms and edits the new problem on dashboard for "Ack: Yes" ; the user B (level: administor common, it be named list in admin B group) login and check out the problem identified by who on dashboard page, it displays the "Inaccessible user".

add more info for you, the issue doesn't repo on 3.0.5 verion of ZBX

In 3.4.6 I can see that behavior too. It doesn't looks good in my case, because my head of department want to see problems history and he find only "Inaccessible user" in 'Acknowledge' column. But, I can use rude words in comments now and he can't see who did it. =)

See the same problem in version 3.4.11

In Zabbix 4.0 under ZBXNEXT-4446 this popup has been completely rewritten and improved in all places. 3.0 is no longer fully supported. I close this issue as Won't Fix.
