Actually, this is just the same as issue https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-8011

Still, in 3.4.3 I see this in Monitoring-Dashboard-> no media defined for user.
That is correct, but is this an error?

Or is this a won't fix? But then ZBX-8011 says differently.

There is definitely something wrong in escalator.c, especially when i see "No media defined for user" and then an empty field under "Details". On a server i'm running 30% of all entries in alerts table are "No media defined" anyway.
I don't see any good reason for throwing this alert at all.

you get also an error message if if you have a valid mail address but disable it

The proposed solution only changes message wording which is a kind of mitigation.
No obviously correct solution so far.

  • Some users find it annoying to see error messages in audit log about on-purpose disabled media.
  • At the same time it might be (or might be not) a good idea to report error if user has no media defined.
  • ... and what to do if an alert is being sent to a group of users, some of them have their media disabled and some have no media defined ?

A simple checkbox to see or not see the errors linked to this error message would be good in the filters.
