[ZBX-15466] Recovery operation not triggered if problem not acknowledged Created: 2019 Jan 16  Updated: 2019 Feb 01  Resolved: 2019 Jan 30

Status: Closed
Project: ZABBIX BUGS AND ISSUES
Component/s: Server (S)
Affects Version/s: 4.0.2
Fix Version/s: None

Type: Incident report Priority: Minor
Reporter: Paul Lautman Assignee: Aigars Kadikis
Resolution: Cannot Reproduce Votes: 0
Labels: None
Remaining Estimate: Not Specified
Time Spent: Not Specified
Original Estimate: Not Specified

 Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create trigger with "allow manual close
  2. Create Trigger Action with a "Recovery operation" (mine was to run a remote command)
  3. Cause trigger to activate and raise a problem
  4. Click "Ack" link
  5. Tick "Close problem" box and click "Update"
  6. Note that "Recovery operation" did not execute even though problem is now resolved
  7. Now click Ack link again and tick "Acknowledge" box and click "Update"
  8. Note that "Recovery operation" has now executed

Expected:
Since the problem can be "resolved" without being "acknowledged", the "Recovery operation" should execute at the point of the problem being closed.

Hello Paul,

Thank you for making Zabbix a better monitoring tool.

Apparently, I was not able to reproduce your case. I did a test on 4.0.3 and 4.0.2 version. The first time I tick "Close problem" box and select "Update" my recovery operation executes.

Maybe you have other things configured inside the Actions section under "Operations" or "Update" tab? Kindly attach some screenshots.

Is everything OK with Zabbix servers health? Zabbix "poller" is the guy who is responsible about the remote remedy. Please see if everything is OK with him. Open Monitoring -> Graphs -> Zabbix servers -> Zabbix server -> Zabbix data gathering process busy. See "zabbix busy poller process in %".

Hi Aigars,

it'll take me a little while to collect all the screenshots but I will put together a series of them showing the whole process step by step for you.

Hello Paul,

Thank you. We are waiting for the screens.

I did an incorrect statement previously. "Task manager" is the guy involved to perform remote remedy. Could you please attach the graph regarding "Zabbix internal process busy %"?

Hello Aigars,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Well I do feel embarrassed! I went to try to produce all the pictures and discovered that it was in fact working correctly in the first place.

Apologies for raising this in error.
