Is it possible to determine which check causes such behaviour ?
As discussed possible candidates to disable are:

  • Zabbix agent
  • SNMPv*
  • Zabbix internal
  • Zabbix aggregate
  • External check
  • Database monitor
  • SSH agent
  • TELNET agent
  • Calculated
  • HTTP agent
  • Simple check

I would pay more attention to:
Simple check, Database monitor, SSH agent and HTTP agent

icmppingloss will be executed by pinger so this should be excluded.
It is also possible that simple check is loadable module. There must be a check that causes leak, if all checks are disabled then you can try increasing log level of poller and seeing what is it doing please.

What about internal items?

zabbix[host,,items]
zabbix[host,,items_unsupported]
zabbix[host,,maintenance]

Yes ingus.vilnis, internal items are also gathered by poller
