5.0 branch is very supported. It's an LTS version!

In agent log, I do not see a graceful shutdown. Before the second start, we can see its using performance counter plugin -  WindowsPerfMon:

Regarding performance counters, there are known and fixed issues. See ZBX-20204 and ZBX-20269.

Please upgrade agent2 to 5.0.22. You can stop service, replace zabbix_agent2.exe with the one from:

Start service.

Let us know if the issue repeats. If it repeats, attach a new log.

The fixed issues does not indicate why the performance counters cause the agent2 to terminate unexpectedly.

Is it overwhelming the service?

I was told that we cannot upgrade to 5.0.22 because we are also restricted to using zabbix server 5.0.16

I cannot confirm or deny that, but the patches were related to performance counters. We can help you if you encounter the problem with resent LTS release.

Zabbix server v5.0.16 is compatible with Zabbix agent2 v5.0.22. You can use newer agents as long as it's on same major version - 5.0.x.

ZBX-20378 might be related

There are improvements (ZBX-20356) starting with zabbix_agent2 5.0.31, 6.0.13. Could you test these versions and confirm the issue exists or went away?
