Duplicate
duplicates ZBX-21094 Empty graphs for items w/o trends and... Closed

 Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. select a graph where items aren't collecting trends, just history
  2. click on last 2 days - graph shows data
  3. change time period to now-3d to now  - click apply
  4. graph no longer shows data.

Result:
I've attached screen shots showing that if I pick same day last week or variations of that, the data is indeed in the history database

Expected:
reading documentation it is indicated that one should see graphs from history data if trends are not being collected.

Hello,

Please attach Administration - General - Housekeeping page settings. And also Item settings for History storage period and Trends storage period.

Regards,
Edgar

But it seems according on this screenshot

Keping trends disabled for those items. If you set something other than 0 it will use global settings and you will see all trends data after few hours.

I understand that, but I don't want to collect trends for those items, and I want the graph to be made from the available history data.

https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/6.0/en/manual/config/visualization/graphs/simple

Generating from history/trends

Graphs can be drawn based on either item history or trends.

For the users who have frontend debug mode activated, a gray, vertical caption is displayed at the bottom right of a graph indicating where the data come from.

Several factors influence whether history of trends is used:

  • longevity of item history. For example, item history can be kept for 14 days. In that case, any data older than the fourteen days will be coming from trends.
  • data congestion in the graph. If the amount of seconds to display in a horizontal graph pixel exceeds 3600/16, trend data are displayed (even if item history is still available for the same period).
  • if trends are disabled, item history is used for graph building - if available for that period. This is supported starting with Zabbix 2.2.1 (before, disabled trends would mean an empty graph for the period even if item history was available).

Hi,
According to the screenshot you haven't set Trends calculation to 0 as Global housekeeper settings overrides item level settings
You may have turned it on recently. (As no trends is collected according to graphs.)
But anyway - if trends aren't disabled and graph is filled with first 2 options you provided in the last comment

Regards, Elina

It wasn't turned on recently.     Do you need more screenshots or more I can provide?   This still doesn't work.
