It's stated in Zabbix documentation that Zabbix requires Net-SNMP version 5.3.0 or higher:
In reality Zabbix 6.0 can still be built with Net-SNMP 5.3, but Zabbix 6.4 and Zabbix pre-7.0 fail to build with such old version of Net-SNMP because it uses functionality from newer Net-SNMP versions. Zabbix 6.4 requires at least Net-SNMP 5.4 while Zabbix pre-7.0 requires at least Net-SNMP 5.8. Those are rather old versions of Net-SNMP. It looks like v5.4 was released in Nov 2006, v5.4.4 (the most recent v5.4.x) in June 2011, v5.8 in July 2018. Both documentation and configure.ac should be updated. |
