i'd probably suggest some tests added, as we fix this in one place, it breaks in another, we fix it there, first place breaks again, and so on every 3 months or so.

(1) Value mapping also didn't work in item history, plain text screens and trigger names.

(2) When item has not data, item value macros resolved to either "0" or "-". They are now resolved into "UNKNOWN", same as the server.

I forgot to mention, that the solution is currently available only in the development branch: svn://svn.zabbix.com/branches/dev/ZBX-5409. Or is the problem reproducible in the development branch too?

No. I check only 2.0.2 release.

(3) As we discussed, try to fix db fetch function to actually return null values. In latest data item last value is resolved to 0 even if it doesn't exist.
