 Description

It seems that 2.0.6 version does not support multiple linked templates.

I've defined on a zabbix server running on a production platform a structure hierarchical templates for 3 levels, hardware, system and application. an hardware template may be used by several system template which can be used by several application template.

It works fine and allow me to improve template management.

Now, I've exported these templates, and I am trying to import them on another zabbix server.

When importing my first group of template I have an error message in red and the operation doesn't go through :
"Template cannot be linked to another template more than once even through other templates"

I would like to undestand this message, as everything works fine on the source server and I have never seen such a problem.

The server where template have been export form is in 2.0.4 and the server where I try to import templates is in 2.0.6.

I've started, for test to recreate quite the same structure on the 2.0.6 version and I have this error message too, is it a new limitation of this version ?

Templates which generate an error "Template cannot be linked to another template more than once even through other templates" when imported.

Hi,

I've attached the template generated with the version 2.0.4.

For information, I've made un downgrade to the version 2.0.4.

==> configure and then make install
==> replace php front end of the version 2.0.6 woth the version 2.0.4
==> updated the configuration for zabbix server and ph fronted

I've checked on the GUI, the version 2.0.4 is well indicated.

The import problem is still there.

The template XML file have been attached for a while.

No news on this problem ?

Seeing the same problem with Zabbix GUI 2.0.5, Templates which generate an error "Template cannot be linked to another template more than once even through other templates" when imported.

Does anybody know if there is a way to do it from zabbix API, or where to find that API call in zbx source?

Thanks

sorry for the delayed response.

the attached xml seems to contain these 9 templates :

  • HW SMV AS
  • HW SMV AS Blade Network interface
  • HW SMV DB SERVER
  • HW SMV DB SERVER Network Interfaces
  • HW SMV FCS
  • HW SMV FCS Blade Network interface
  • HW SMV SERVER Disks
  • HW SMV SERVER Memory
  • SYS SMV FCS

some of them rely on missing template "HW SERVER CPU" and some value maps - i just created these.

the xml does import successfully in trunk r42777.

once. attempting to import it the second time fails

error is "Graph "Available Memory" with templated items cannot contain items from other hosts."

there is only one graph with such a name in the xml, it contains 3 items and all seem to be from the same template - "HW SMV AS"

Seems like original problem can no longer be reproduced on current 2.0.11
Second problem about templated graph import on 2.2 is RESOLVED in svn://svn.zabbix.com/branches/dev/ZBX-6742
