In zabbix frontend my host is red and zabbix get error: cannot connect to IPMI host: [33554436] Unknown error 33554436 or cannot connect to IPMI host: [33554436] Unknown error 33554433. Ipmitool (ipmitool I lanplus -L user -H xxx -U xxx ) return normal values all sensors are work and available. Traffic on UDP 623 come in and go out. In zabbix_server.conf StartIPMIPollers=1 (another values of this parameter I try on too). zabbix.log is attached

My Zabbix Version is 2.2.2 and I'm monitoring some HP DL380p Gen8 Servers with iLO 4.
The problem occurs with newer iLO firmware.
With firmware Version 1.13 everything works fine and I can monitor my host using IPMI.
With firmware Version 1.32 and 1.40 I get the error 33554436.
Try to up- or downgrade your iLO firmware.

dimir added the following comment on https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-6139

"By default OpenIPMI is compiled with OpenSSL enabled which enables working with any privilege level: "callback" (1), "user" (2), "operator" (3), or "admin" (4).

Unfortunately Debian (and Ubuntu) OpenIPMI packages are compiled with ssl turned off which leads to only one available privilege level - “callback”. This is the explanation by Debian package maintainer Noèl Köthe:

<noel> http://www.openssl.org/support/faq.html#LEGAL2
<noel> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSSL#Licensing

The solution is recompiling OpenIPMI library with openssl enabled."

Another working solution is to install the openipmi package from: https://launchpad.net/~vvk/+archive/ubuntu/openipmi

Are the privilege levels set up the same way on different firmwares?

Hello,

i reported Bug ZBX-8681.
i used diffenrent privileg levels but it was always the same error

I am also seeing this.

27783:20150624:152845.056 query [txnlev:1] [update hosts set ipmi_disable_until=1435156185,ipmi_error='cannot connect to IPMI host: [33554436] Unknown error 33554436' where hostid=10324]

Zabbix server 1:2.4.5-1+trusty is on Ubuntu Trusty 14.04 LTS trying to communicate with an HP c7000 BladeSystem iLO4 (firmware 2.10 Jan 15 2015).

Testing from the command line on the Zabbix server works okay. Experimenting with different authentication algorithms of privilege levels doesn't appear to help.

For example, the following works on the command line from the Zabbix server:

ipmitool -I lanplus -H remote_ilom_hostname -U zabbixuser -P zabbixuser_password -L USER sensor

We solved this problem installing
libopenipmi0 2.0.16-1.3
openipmi 2.0.16-1.3.
Another versions of soft do not work.
