Description |
The documentation on SNMP trapping states: "For each trap Zabbix finds all corresponding SNMP interfaces on hosts for the received IP or DNS address". The "or" in this wording is ambiguous. It lead me to believe that either match is fine. It turns out that if you specify a name after ZBXTRAP, it only matches if the interface is configured to use the name. https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/2.0/manual/config/items/itemtypes/snmptrap |

volter, you are right. Currently only the selected "IP" or "DNS" is used during the matching. Updated in the docs. Please review. The changed steps are 5-8. |

Reviewed. Looking good. |

I'd prefer merging 5 and 6. 6 is no separate step, is it? |

A good point. 5 and 6 merged in: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/2.0/manual/config/items/itemtypes/snmptrap#overview Please review. |

Closing it. Volter, feel free to re-open if something is not right. |
