We had an item "status" in the past, which was removed some time ago. However, "Host status" value mapping is still there in data.tmpl:
This value mapping does not seem to be used in the default install. It is proposed to either remove this value mapping or (as suggested by richlv) make it usable by zabbix[host,<type>,available] item. |

Updated "Host status" value mapping to "Host availability" and made it usable to zabbix[host,<type>,available]. Fixed in development branch svn://svn.zabbix.com/branches/dev/ZBX-9730 r57335. |

(1) Since this is the first time when we remove a value map from the default installation I would like to ask sasha if the following is acceptable. When importing/exporting templates Zabbix refers to the value maps by name. If template contains non-existant value map then Zabbix will not import it and will return error. Users that relied upon "Host status" mapping will have to create it by hand or fix the templates if they import their older templates in clean-installed Zabbix 3.0. Users upgrading from older version of Zabbix will have to add "Host availability" mapping by hand if they wish to use it. Currently http://zabbix.org/wiki/Zabbix_Templates/SQLs_for_Official_Templates doesn't contain SQL script or exported value map to apply after upgrade to 3.0. viktors.tjarve If a user is using Host status value map he will not be able to import it from older version of Zabbix into Zabbix 3.0. If this user will want to keep using Host status value map he will have to add it manually. When upgrading to Zabbix 3.0 a SQL script will be provided to add all the additional features and changes of the new Zabbix version. Official Zabbix tamplate website http://zabbix.org/wiki/Zabbix_Templates/Official_Templates will contain all the additions and changes to value maps as well. |

(2) Shouldn't the first letter be capitalized? Our guidelines leave room for interpretation for this case. viktors.tjarve RESOLVED. Discussed with sasha and decided to use lowercase letters only. sandis.neilands CLOSED. |

in (1), it says that sql script will be provided. value map api is available since 3.0, maybe an api query would be a better choice ? |
