Fixed in development branch svn://svn.zabbix.com/branches/dev/ZBXNEXT-1268 . Freshly compiled Windows binaries are included. This was fixed for zabbix_agent.exe, zabbix_get.exe and zabbix_sender.exe (both 32-bit and 64-bit binaries). |

(1) It looks good under Server 2008 (and win 7 I suppose) but a tab "Version" under Win XP is empty. <dimir> Did you check the pre-compiled binaries or did you compile them all by yourself? <zalex> nooooo, once I tried to compile it and once even with success I do not like to try it again <dimir> RESOLVED in r28458 <zalex> looks good under OSes mentioned above and also under Win2003 Server R2 x32 |

(2) Description of zabbix_agentd.exe - "A command line utility to control Zabbix Agent service." It's a zabbix agent itself but not some utility. Please fix somehow. <dimir> Well, I thought in Windows they use that binary only to install/uninstall/start/stop the service. <zalex> then, who was the zabbix agent for Windows itself ? <dimir> RESOLVED in r28458 <zalex> now it's: Also, zabbix_get and zabbix_sender now have the same description as for the agent. They were different in previous revision. <richlv> probably "local resource data and send them to Zabbix server." <dimir> I don't mind different description but frankly I don't see the versions above as better ones . Firstly, is "the data" really "they"? Secondly, by resources I meant different monitoring targets that are monitored on a local host. I think most of the time there are more than one item to monitor on a host. <martins-v>A definition distilled from our documentation might be used: "Zabbix agent is deployed on a host to actively monitor local resources and applications and send data to Zabbix server." <martins-v>Also, "local resource data" does not mean there is just "one" resource, it means that there is one or MANY resources... same as "motor oil" does not mean that it's just for one motor... "local resources data" would be as strange usage in English as "motors oil" <dimir> I think it depends on what you associate "reource" with. If you associate it with "data" (meaning that it's the data from some resource) then yes, but if you associate it with "local" (meaning that the data comes from local resources) for me it looks perfectly OK English. Please correct me if I'm wrong. @Rich, yeah, this is why I dropped "active". Nevertheless, I agree to stick to "Zabbix agent is deployed on a host to monitor local resources and applications and send data to Zabbix server." <richlv> my comment went away, so to repeat - i suggested dropping "actively", as that would result in active/passive confusion; actually, i'd also suggest to drop "local", as agent can also collect remote data. <dimir> So, last version: "Zabbix agent is deployed on a host to monitor resources and applications and send data to Zabbix server." <martins-v>no objections. <dimir> RESOLVED in r28469, please recheck the new binaries. <zalex> CHECKED, I suppose CLOSED |
