Would it be possible to have a SSL get expiry of certificate in days.

The simple check for https, get the info already... just return last date - now in days!

Related request asking for more certificate information: ZBXNEXT-3202.

While creating a webscenario, it would be interesting to tell Zabbix to retrieve the date of the certificate expiration. Then, we would be able to add a trigger based on that information.

Today, there is 2 ways for certificate monitoring.

  • Use of externalscripts, that we have to deploy and maintain on several proxies.
  • Use of userparameter, with scripts that we have to deploy and maintain on several hosts. Another issue is that the trigger is activated on the host running the script, not the host running the webserver / reverse proxy.

None is this way brings satisfaction in certificate monitoring. I believe it should be implemented in Zabbix Web Scenario.

It was implemented under ZBXNEXT-5931 and coming in Zabbix 6.0, I am closing this ticket.
