I'm not sure why this isn't the default, but if there is a good technical reason to not always replicate templates, you could make it where a template could be marked as "distributed". That way only "distributable" templates replicated to the child nodes?

I strongly agree - syncing templates between nodes would be very helpful in the following situations:

  • copy templates from zabbix test environments to productive environments
  • copy from master setup to the distributed nodes of our customers
  • copy templates from distributed nodes to master setup

A mass operation in "Configuration" => "Templates" would be useful.

Very very necessary feature.

Feature ideas:

  • manual sync (only on parent node):
    • open configuration => templates => <template-name>
    • press button "clone to node"
    • select a node
    • template on node will be completely replaced by the template of the parent node (no merging)
  • permanent sync (only on parent node)
    • open configuration => templates => <template-name>
    • setting "permanent template synchonisation"
      • select nodes for replication
      • the template cannot be change in the child nodes anymore
  • check sync
    • open configuration => templates => <template-name>
    • show sync status of all sub nodes

with nodes removed in 2.4, this one is unlikely to be looked in
