 Description   

When you're debugging your items or investigate in surprising trigger behaviour, you often navigate around between item configuration and data. While you can open a second frontend window, you'd still have to navigate to Latest data and then pick the right host or do the same via the search. Both require some mouse-work or typing.

I suggest two hyperlinks:

  • Link on the item list that points to "Last 500 values".
    The idea behind that is, it works for text and numeric data and allows to easily spot gaps in the data. The lack of temporal navigation should make it fool-proof.
  • Link on the host header
    It takes you to Latest data and picks the corresponding host and current host group setting, if available.

Both are not visible on templates, as there is no data. On discovered items the link takes you to the particular values for the host, as expected. The first link of link does not show up on the item prototype page.

also, i'm not sure about explicitly providing 'latest data' link from host properties - instead, there should be an easy way to go to host inventory view, which in 2.2 links to everything else
... i wanted to link to whatsnew, but it's still not documented :>

2.4 might have some navigation redesign, thus it wouldn't be that nice to do this and then discard it. if the redesign does not happen or does not address this concern, this issue should be revisited

The attached patchzbxNext1965b-2.2.5.patch is a slightly different implementation of the origin patch:

Instead of extending the item description it conditionally replaces the value in history or trends column by a hyper-link to item's last values.

This feature request is still pure gold...

Not being able to get from host configuration to corresponding latest data is still (in 3.2) one of the biggest annoyances. A direct link from the item configuration list to its 500 latest values would also be useful.

Links from from trigger configuration to problems and graph configuration to viewing the graph would be nice too, if not so frequently needed.
