Description |
I would like to be able to set host macros based on received values from a network discovery. For instance, based on the snmp check I would know which SNMP communicy the discovered hosts accepts and I could set the community via a host macro. Currently, I have to have a template per community string that has the macro set and link it to the proper template. |

to clarify, instead of using the returned value from the discovery check as a macro/variable, you would set the macro/variable based on which discovery check actually worked |

Ah, yes. That is what I meant. Although reusing the value would be a neat addition, I also see other uses for this functionality. It would be handy to make a selectable setting to override an already set host level user macro as well. |

This is something which I am also interested in - the ability to discover devices with a particular OID, and create a host macro for the resultant discovered hosts with the value. |
