that's actually by design - it is trivial to open link in a new tab in any recent & decent browser, while it is nearly impossible to open in the same tab if link opens in a new one.

personally, i'd vote heavily against suggested change

If that were the case, i wouldn't have posted In Chrome4 and IE8, middle-clicking opens Latest Data in the current tab. Firefox 3.58 opens a new empty tab with URL "javascript:%20redirect('latest.php?groupid=0&hostid=100100000001120')". No browser exposes "Open Link in New Tab" on right-click. What am i missing then?

hmm, true. in that case, i'd say "latest data" links in the popup should be proper links instead of javascript redirects
