 Description   

As part of ZBXNEXT-4588 and in order to support pattern matching, support of macros $1..$9 in item names must be removed.

Possible changes:

  • drop support of $1-$9 in item name resolving
  • change item names in templates where dropped macros are used
  • create upgrade patch

For the records:
Support of $1-$9 macro is removed only from item name and item prototype name, support of $1-$9 macro in trigger name is left as is. (trigger documentation page)

This issue is a bit confusing - were the changes completely reverted?

This problem was closed, because when updating the database there were big problems with the resolution of these macros at the template level. It was decided to leave these macros supported but deprecated.

Thank you for the update, appreciated.
Are the problems described anywhere - for example, was the template level resolution related to usermacros being used in the item key parameters?
When they are deprecated, what does that mean for users, what changes for them - for example, will this feature go away in version 5.0 or anything similar?
