 Description

Regarding here: ZBX-14580
It would be nice if we can determine the interface in a discovery rule. For example I want to find some printers, mostly all printers has an open Port 9100, so I would like to discover it and want to query it by snmp, at the moment that use case is not possible.

How do you discover these printers? Using SNMP on 9100/UDP port?

Comment by Stefan [ 2018 Jul 09 ]

nope, see Screenshot I use TCP 9100

Are you sure it is SNMP? I do not see the query at all. Please describe the issue in a bit more details.

Hi Alexey, no TCP 9100 is not SNMP But with this port I'm pretty sure that is a printer, so in my rule I check if this port is open; if yes I want to link a SNMP-Template to it. But at the moment it's not possible because in the discovery rule I can't set a SNMP-Interface for all found devices.

sorry for my bad english, but I hope you know what I mean

Please use SNMP discovery, in this case Zabbix will add SNMP interface. To be sure it is printer you can discover sysDescr.0 OID and check value of the check in action conditions.

the problem is every model (and maybe firmware?) has a different sysDescr:

HP ETHERNET MULTI-ENVIRONMENT
RICOH Aficio SP C830DN 1.09 / RICOH Network Printer C model
RICOH Aficio MP C305 4.11 / RICOH Network Printer C model / RICOH Network Scanner C model / RICOH Network Facsimile C model
Canon iR-ADV C5255 /P

that means every time I add a printer somewhere I must first check what is in sysDescr. with TCP 9100 it works without checks.

so in this case it would be much easier if I can choose the interface in the action conditions

You can check part of the string. I suppose you do not use non-printers from RICOH vendor

Comment by Stefan [ 2018 Jul 10 ]

ehm yes for every vendor+model a different part? it can be very complex for a simple thing, just add the possibility to choose an interface in a action condition

received value like RICOH or received value like Canon
