 Description

We never know if a newly added item is correct or not. We need to wait when it starts receiving data and then check if it works fine.

The whole process must be improved by having an ability to test an item from UI even before it was actually created.

It should work for templates as well.

How would it work for templates?

There will be a way to edit the data manually:

  • macros
  • interface IP
  • interface port
  • proxy

This functionality is coming in Zabbix 5.0. It will work for host and template  items. I hope it will speed up significantly creation of templates, configuration and helps with troubleshooting related to data collection.

I have found a small issue, if i use an SSH Check and i omit the "target IP" on the Itemkey the test do not honor the "default" host interface.

I need to define a Macro to have the correct Test process.
