[ZBXNEXT-810] Option to force-refresh the monitoring data from a specific active host Created: 2011 Jun 08  Updated: 2024 Feb 29

 Description

It would be nice if there was a "force refresh" button to have it refresh all the data for the selected host(s).
For this, we are now simply restarting the agent but that is not very practical, an internal option for that would be a lot better.

judging by the description, this is for active agents. see ZBXNEXT-416 for "umbrella" issue for daemon runtime control

Sorry, I should have specified that one a bit better.
It was targeted at "both" (although we only use active checks), but since there is already one for passive checks I'm fine with having this the "active" one.

That ticket actually has quite some nice ideas.

Some people miss this feature for a 6 years (http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90).
It's one of the features I miss much, it's implemented in nagios and very useful, we use it most of all.
Please, include it in the 2.0 release, if possible.
Upstream issue: ZBXNEXT-416

Use case:
I created a template for calculating memory usage on device. It contains mib for total memory and used. I want to set refresh interval for total memory 3600 or so and 30s for used memory and then calculate it every 30 seconds. But i got error on calculated item as there the total memory is not collected yet =(
It just last example when i was really pissed of because of unability to control checks, but also encountered dozen times before.

As an addition - i would be nice to collect ALL items when they are added to host. Or as a minimum - display when the next chech is scheduled.

note that this was voted by zabbix conference 2014 participants as the most needed feature and was supposed to be developed for zabbix 3.0 - but it turned out to be too complicated, thus it has not been implemented yet

@richlv any estimations? the feature request doesn't have Assignee - so i suppose no one responsible for this task?

Comment by richlv [ 2016 Feb 15 ]

no estimates, as this is currently no on the roadmap. you can see the specification draft at http://zabbix.org/wiki/Docs/specs/ZBXNEXT-473 , but don't read too much into it - as mentioned, it was determined to be too complicated and who knows what will happen to the spec in the future. detailed discussion best to be done on irc

Hi,

Anything new?

I also need this feature.

Today this is blocking the replacement of our current monitoring tool for Zabbix.

Thanks.

After ZBXNEXT-7852 the default for RefreshActiveChecks is 5 secs instead of 120 secs before. It's also easy on the network and cpu because the config update is now incremental. Closing this soon unless there are reasonable objections.
