 Description

It's been years since this topic has been talked about on Zabbix, but no official template for it has been created. When you find a template that was made by someone else, it's always outdated or way too complicated to set up when you have a big chunk of servers to monitor. You can always resort to monitoring the Windows Updates event log, but it's absolutely not viable due to Microsoft changing Item IDs sometimes, and it's not really precise.

What would be really useful is an Official Zabbix template that will monitor Windows updates.

How would that work?

A template with multiple items, triggers (optional). The items could be:

  1. When was the last update done (Last update)
  2. When was the last update check done (When Windows searches for an update, basically)
  3. Does the Windows machine need a reboot FOR an update (Reboot check)
  4. How many updates are available (Updates count check), and about that, if it's possible, show how many "Security, Drivers, Microsoft, etc.." Updates

And the triggers could be (Optional):

  1. "System has 3 or more updates to install."
  2. "System needs a reboot for updating."
  3. "System has not checked updates in the last 30 days (This is an example)."

If you are reading this, you are totally free to suggest more for this template, and I am very thankful if you have read this."
