The next steps are as follows: 1) Release the last patch for 1.8.x 2) Write up the design document on Zabbix.org 3) Discuss and thresh out the roadmap for the patch for 2.0 4) If all goes well I would hope the 2.0 patch could be integrated in 2.2 and we could proceed from there on more features. |

Just a note - if Lua support is added to trigger expressions, most likely it will have to use item placeholders of some kind, something similar to ZBXNEXT-2466 |

This ticket has been a great catalyst to move forward support of user defined logic for pre-processing and webhooks! JavaScript was selected as a scripting language of choice for Zabbix. I am sure use of JavaScript will be extended to other areas, for example, user defined trigger functions is a good candidate. redtux, do you think we should keep this ticket open? I am asking this because it is highly unlikely that Lua will be incorporated into Zabbix any time soon. |

JavaScript was selected some time ago as a primary language for webhooks, pre-processing and more. I am closing this ticket. |
