Description |
Hi! It seems user can not use Low Level Discovery macros for "IPMI agent" ("IPMI sensor" value) in item prototype. I have discovery rule, which returns IMPI-sensor names (via corresponding LLD macros, i.e. {#SENSOR_ID}) . I can use this macros as Item Name, as Item Key but I can not use it as "IMPI sensor" (item calculation error: "sensor or control {#SENSOR_ID}@[192.168.252.206]:623 does not exis"). This feature is must-have for IPMI low-level discovery. Thank you. |

Its a real pity, that this approach doesn't works! Especially IPMI sensors are a great thing to discovery via LLDs (as its often a pain to use "hard coded", because the available sensors can differ quite often between different servers etc:!) But if we can't use the discovered values in a simple field like "IPMI sensor",then it renders the whole LLD approach with "IPMI checks" unusable. The only solution is now to build our own IPMI check script and use it as "external script" ... PS. and I just realized: overusing external scripts is not recommended ... so there are not even much ways to work around this! |

I agree. It would really be handy. The IPMI checks are quite useless without LLD. |

If documentation was updated for this issue, links here might be useful (to what'snew, IPMI pages perhaps). |

From the description, it seems like this did not implement LLD for IPMI, only added LLD macro support in sensor names. |
