Zabbix proxy update configuration process updates configuration from Zabbix server directly from database. So it is possible to have the latest one Zabbix configuration on proxy side, but previous configuration on Zabbix server side. In this case all collected data on proxy side for new items will be missed on Zabbix server side (Zabbix server just drop that data after receiving values from Zabbix proxy).
