Go to Latest data, choose any host. tick 'Show details' option.
Now use item's key link to update something in item, like update interval.
Press 'Update'
You will be returned to item configuration page of last template or host you configured, thats absolutely not related to the host you viewed in 'Latest data'. Thats really confusing.

Ideally, user should return to latest data page.
Or at least to item configuration section with same hostid context as in latest data.
