In user configuration form clicking on Add to add user groups in the pop-up window it is not possible to click directly on the name of the group to add that single group for the user. It is only possible to add group when selecting the box next to the group name unlike selecting a user group for receiving notification message in actions. There it is possible to click directly on the group name.
