Web frontend is not suitable for the screenreader users

XMLWordPrintable

      Steps to reproduce:
As a result of barrier free audit, we have identified some gaps and limitations for screenreader users. Tests were done using JAWS software.

      1. The buttons to the right and left of "Zoom out" function (marked red) are unnamed (see form field list below). Their function is not visible to JAWS users (see attachment-1a.png, and attachment-1b.png)
      2. Warning messages and other similar messages within the entire application are not focused and are not read directly by JAWS (see attachment-2.png)
      3. If the form field list is displayed while an overlay window is open, all switches in the background mask are also displayed, but without their names.Only the active form fields should be displayed in the list (see attachment-3.png)
      4. The checkboxes are not clearly named. With normal TAB-navigation, only "Checkbox" will be announced. The user must derive the meaning from the context. (see attachment-4.png)
      5. "Edit" and "Delete" of the individual widgets are not clearly labeled. The user must derive from context the meaning of which widgets are edited or deleted. (see attachment-5.png)
      6. After saving the changes, there is a loss of focus into the page header. The message is not focused and is not read aloud by JAWS (see also Messages in point 2). (see attachment-6.png)
      7. The Paginator links for browsing (marked blue) are insufficiently labelled. Instead of "forwards" or "backwards", only "zabbix" is announced (marked red). This behavior is also found in other Paginator links in the application. (see attachment-7.png)
      8. The text highlighted in blue (footer information about displayed page number) is not in TAB order and cannot be read by JAWS. (see attachment-8.png)
      9. Data Overview Table cannot be read under JAWS because only the color information is available and there is no text alternative. There is also no text alternative for the displayed graphic symbols (see attachment-9.png)
      10. The switches for expanding or collapsing a host group are not labeled (see below). In addition, the status (expanded or collapsed - marked red and blue) cannot be read out either during TAB navigation or via the form field list. (see attachment-10a.png, and attachment-10b.png)
      11. Graphs are generally not accessible by JAWS users (see attachment-11.png)
      12. When accessing the content area of the map, the information displayed is partially read aloud, but JAWS does not allow you to read the information displayed in a targeted manner (see attachment-12.png)
