Documentation (https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/current/en/manual/regular_expressions) states that:
Note that in multi-line matching, the ^ and $ anchors match at the beginning/end of each line respectively, instead of the beginning/end of the entire string.
While web.page.regex and item preprocessing is not performing the multi-line matching (not sure if this is the full set). All the places should be documented so it is clear what is the expected behavior for every functionality.
