This seems to be a 10 year old problem.     Will there be a fix for it?    

I need to setup users that can see what the templates are, and what items and triggers but not be able to. modify them.    

My assumption was the template group - read only, but that doesn't work.   The user can only see the templates if they have read-write to the group.

The problem is that there's still no easy way for an admin that has read-write permission to a host but read-only permission to templates to actually view the items and triggers that are part of a template.

Ideally what would happen is that those user groups with read-only permission on templates would still be able to go into Configuration->Templates and see the templates and the items/triggers/graphs associated with them, but they would not be able to make any changes to those templates.
