Hi there!

It would be nice to have a new item type "alias", where the item key can be the item of another or the same host. This way it would be easy to create alias names for items.

Example:

We're monitoring the pages a printer has printed using snmp. The printer has many counters for that. Counter "42" is internally (described elsewhere) the "pages printed in grey". Because one can't really memorize "counter.42" as the item-name it would be great to create another item "pages printed in grey", that refers to the "counter.42"-item.

It wouldn't be possible to rename the counter.42, because the meaning of counter.42 can be different on another printer and recreating the complete snmp-item would be oversized...
