with opera 11.01, dropdown contents never really fit in the dropdown, there's always a few pixels to scroll. this means scrollbar is added even to smallest dropdowns, making them damn ugly.

doesn't happen with opera 10.11. disabling form styling in 11.01 solves the problem, but removes all other form styling, of course.
