configuration -> screens, edit some screen, then edit an element.
choose "simple graph", open parameter selection.
notice how it allows selecting items with type 'character', which is quite pointless, as they always show empty graphs with [no data].
simple graph screen item should not show character type items (and maybe other inappropriate types like log ?)
