HOST.CONN macro in external checks loses first character

      external check key :

      test.sh["<${HOST.CONN}>"]

      host's ip = 127.0.0.1

      printing all parameters to a file results in :

      127.0.0.1 <27.0.0.1>

      note that other macros should be checked as well; this might also be present in 1.8
