I'll try to convince you again).
There was ZBXNEXT-894. After that you refused my patch and explanation and rewrote comment for generate_events() in 2.0 and trunk. I still don't agree with that decision.
Then you didn't check the subject and now in current version subject doesn't work at all! (And I think it has never worked in > 1.8)

I'd like you to restore generate_events()'s comment (revert r32342) and make it work in descibed way.
Why not just to restore subject, but another way? Because now subject doesn't work at all, and no one has noticed or cried about it (just me=)).
And I certainly believe and it was discussed in irc that generate_events()'s comment before r32342 describes much more usefull logic, that after r32342 i.e. now.

Here is tiny patch. What does it do:

• Restore notifications after maintenance period expiration at all.
• Restore previous generate_events()'s comment.
• Make subject follow this restored comment.
