alert scripts that do not finish can completely hang alerter process. this was already reported as ZBX-3967, but never really resolved.
additionally, in one batch alerter process might do multiple operations. some might succeed, but until all of the alerts are processed, status is not written in the database. maybe it's worth writing out status on periodic basis (every 5 seconds or so ?)

probably a separate timeout option is the best approach.
