For reproducing open the Monitoring -> Triggers page:
- Choose hostgroup(for example, default zabbix servers) then fill the application filter with any application which is common for several groups (in my example Zabbix agent).
- after applying filter you can see all triggers with items with that application. Hostgroup filter won't affect.
