You could disagree, I know, but see:
When timer process switch host from maintenance then it reports:
22934:20140616:110000.856 timer #1 [processed 0 triggers, 0 events in 0.000148 sec, 0 maint.periods in 0.029278 sec, idle 30 sec]

but actually in this activity the timer process has created event and also was busy to switch a host.

So, I think we should:
a) include events generated by timer after maintenance and show "1 events" instead of "0 events"
b) include maintenance related activity and show "1 maint.periods" instead of "0 maint.periods"

Note that when the host was switched to maintenance then it was included to the "maint.periods":
