Documentation states that host's technical names should contain, as cited from https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/2.4/manual/config/hosts/host , only:

" Alpha-numericals, spaces, full stops and underscores are allowed. "

This is pretty much minor, but from testing I was surprised to also see hyphens '-' allowed. After asking the IRC it was suggested I'd open an issue for this.

Possible problem is that inclusion of hyphen in tech host names could break the stuff that depends on parsing strings with technames (e.g. scripts etc.) that don't expect hyphens, in that case it would be a mistake of some zabbix core component, not documentation.
