With the function nodata in an trigger you can check if the item has had any data within x time. But this function only works if this item has had any data in the history of time.

An Active item and an trapper item both working fine.

This means that there is an danger the item on the hosts has been false configured and so the trigger is not getting active, the engineer things everything is OK but it is not.
