when values are sent in (active agent, zabbix trapper etc) for a host that is in a no-data maintenance, the values are dropped/rejected.

when timestamped values are sent in, they seem to be checked against the current maintenance period only. this is somewhat confusing, and, as a minimum, should be documented.

a testcase : have a host with two maintenance periods, one for today, one for yesterday. send in timestamped value for a few hours ago and one for the yesterday. the value for a few hours ago is rejected while the value for the yesterday is accepted.
