Today, Zabbix Server/Proxy creates a new connection every time it connects to a device (ssh / agent / odbc etc).
This creates an an overhead on the monitored device, as every login creates processes, logs etc.
Having the option to reuse persistent connections can remove this overhead.
But preserving some monitoring that creates a connection every time is still needed, to check for logins can be made etc.
For this reason, I suggest that we get a tick mark option on our items, where we can mark the connection as persistent (default being current - non persistent).
With this option, we can change parts of our current monitoring to reduce the resource usage on the monitored devices, without affecting the functionality and quality of the Zabbix monitoring.
