Description
Background: Zabbix currently provides excellent native support for major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud (GCP). However, there is a significant and growing market share for Huawei Cloud Stack (HCS), particularly in Enterprise, Government, and Telecom sectors across LATAM, EMEA, and APAC regions.
The Problem: Currently, users running infrastructure on HCS must rely on complex, custom-made scripts or manual SNMP configurations to monitor their cloud resources. This lacks the scalability and ease of use found in the native integrations for other cloud providers.
Proposed Feature: We suggest the creation of an official set of templates and a native integration (HTTP agent-based) for Huawei Cloud Stack (HCS). This integration should ideally include:
- Service Discovery: Automated discovery of ECS (Elastic Cloud Servers), RDS (Relational Database Service), and ELB (Elastic Load Balance) instances using HCS APIs.
- Performance Metrics: Out-of-the-box monitoring for CPU, Memory, Disk I/O (EVS), and Network traffic.
- Health Status: Monitoring of service availability and resource quotas.
- Authentication: Native support for Huawei Cloud IAM (Identity and Access Management) signatures.
Business Value:
- Market Expansion: Positions Zabbix as the leading monitoring solution for the growing Huawei Cloud ecosystem.
- User Experience: Provides a "plug-and-play" experience for hybrid-cloud environments, similar to what is already offered for AWS.
- Standardization: Ensures that monitoring follows Zabbix best practices for cloud-native data collection.
