tags are powerful way to categorize and filter objects as well as correlate events.

It is unfortunate that it's use for User access control is scarce.

 

I would like to therefore request having tags implemented in User groups configuration also for items or hosts should their use be justified.

 

Use case scenario:

Each agent monitored host has some items tied to automation that do not need to be visible to customers or technicians from other teams other than the monitoring admins.

 

It would be great to control the visibility of these items via User group, where one could define a list of item tags for the non-monitoring admins.

Example:
User group has list of item tags to filter access on.

[example tag]
name: internal

condition: does not exists

 

Outcome:

Non-monitoring admin users have access to defined hosts, yet all items with tag internal are hidden from them.
