Environment:Dashboard Widget
Summary: Support wildcards in item names for the Top Hosts dashboard widget
Background: The Data Overview widget is deprecated and scheduled for removal in upcoming releases, with Top Hosts being the recommended replacement. While migrating our dashboards, we encountered a functional limitation that prevents a like-for-like transition.
Problem: The Top Hosts widget does not support wildcards in the item name when defining a column. As a result, a single column can only reference one specific item. In Data Overview it was possible to display multiple matching items (e.g. all disks of a host) within a single, dynamic structure.
Impact: For any host with a variable number of items — such as filesystems, network interfaces, or CPU cores — this means a separate column must be configured manually for each item. This does not scale across hosts with differing item counts and effectively makes Top Hosts unable to replace Data Overview for these use cases.
