Use Case: When a host is added to a specific host group, administrators should have the option to automatically apply predefined configuration changes, such as:
- Adding host tags
- Linking templates
- Applying host macros
- Updating inventory fields
- Assigning proxies
- Performing other host-level configuration actions
Business Need: Many organizations use host groups to represent ownership, location, environment, or service classification. Having the ability to trigger automated configuration actions based on host group membership would simplify large-scale host onboarding, reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and minimize configuration drift.
Currently, this requires external automation through the API, which adds development and maintenance overhead for what could be a common administrative workflow.
