Large scale enviroment where there needs to be seperation between core infurstucture and services monitored via proxy.
Hi Zabbix Team, Im currently designing and proofing out an ISP monitoring enviroment and have come across an issue with Proxy statistics that were not clear and now I understand the issues are a limiting factor that i would expect are easily addressed.
In the proposed setup we have an core enviroment and a customer enviroment. In the customer enviroment are a number of proxies nodes that grant access to customer services to be monitored. Each of the proxy nodes has an agent installed and this agent is added as a host in both the core and customer servers. As the core enviroment is where we want to monitor our infurstucture it was hopped we could add a proxy template and get back stats for the proxy proceess on the customer proxies. But it seems that when we do this we actually get the internal items for the core server. The only way to get the proxy stats is to use the proxy when connecting to the agent. The issue is the proxy is for the customer enviroment not the core enviroment.
Hopefully the above makes sence. In a nutshell the ability to gather proxy statistics should be indepentant from the proxy itself. The same applies for server statistics. I can see many uses where it would be good to gather stats about a zabbix server enviroment via the agent from a seperate enviroment.
