      Currently there is no way to know how many alerts are queuing for the alerter process, especially if there is a delay and an investigation needs historical data.

      There is also no way to clear the alerter queue, meaning that if hundreds of alerts are sent out simultaneously, the alerter process will be busy for a while and other alerts will not get through.

      The queue monitoring could also allow triggers to be created against it, for example if more than 20 messages are queuing, then start trying to run a command.
