Suppose you have selected host "Zabbix server" that belongs to host group "Zabbix servers". Its items are listed. Now you would like to add hosts from host group "Virtual machines". You select it in host groups field and everything is gone. This is because "Zabbix server" does not belong to host group "Virtual machines". Filter works in the way that if both host group(s) and host(s) are selected only the host(s) found in host group(s) are listed.

Scenario 1

• go to "Monitoring -> Latest data"
• select host "Zabbix server"
• click "Filter", its items are listed
• select host group "Virtual machines"
• click "Filter", you get empty page

Expected result

• all hosts, belonging to selected host groups as well as specified hosts are listed

I don't see why the selected hosts are checked from specified host groups. If I need to select a specific host I don't care which host group it belongs to.

In case this behavior is by design, I think we should not allow users to select hosts that do not belong to selected host groups.

Scenario 2

• select host group "Virtual machines"
• click "Select" to select specific host
• from drop-down select "Zabbix servers"
• from the list click "Zabbix server"

Expected result

• clicking "Select" to select specific host only lists selected host groups in the drop-down (see attachment "selecting-host.png").
